50 %

of our staff have caring responsibilities for children and/or family, friends or others

British Land is an inclusive and family friendly employer, focused on empowering all employees to be the best they can be, in and outside work.

Our achievements

  • Introduced British Land’s first Carers Policy, accompanied with a Carers Support Guide to support colleagues with caring responsibilities, as well as their managers and team around them
  • Created a Neonatal Care Policy - which extends leave to employees who have babies born prematurely. By offering this additional leave to parents of premature babies they get to spend more time with their child and family when they are out of hospital, instead of using their maternity/paternity/shared parental leave entitlement.
  • Upgraded flexible working policy, building on the success of the enhanced Shared Parental Pay Policy introduced by the Women’s Network.
  • Working with IT and Smart Places teams to try different technology solutions to facilitate workplace flexibility.
  • Providing support and access to wider networks to enable all staff to bring their whole selves to work.

We have various policies in place to support parents and carers at work including:

Our mission is to ensure British Land is a supportive, connected, flexible workplace for those with children and every type of caring responsibilities.
